Under the guidance of skilled local chefs, you will learn the art of preparing a traditional Moroccan meal from scratch. You’ll start by selecting fresh ingredients, just as locals do in the bustling souks, where colorful stalls overflow with seasonal vegetables, preserved lemons, fragrant herbs, and high-quality spices.

One of the highlights of the experience is learning to make a real Moroccan tagine. This slow-cooked dish, named after the earthenware pot in which it is prepared, combines meat or fish with a medley of vegetables, fruits, and a carefully balanced mix of spices. Whether it's a savory lamb tagine with prunes and almonds, a chicken tagine with preserved lemons and olives, or a vegetarian version with chickpeas and seasonal produce, each dish is a masterpiece of flavor.

Just a 15-minute drive from the bustling heart of Marrakech, nestled in the quieter northern part of the city, lies a charming small Riad .

Arrival

Arrival at the Riad in the old town of Marrakech, northeast of the city.

Upon your arrival, you will be welcomed with traditional mint tea, a symbol of Moroccan hospitality. After a quick setup in this authentic and warm setting, the culinary experience can begin.

The class starts with:

  • The first step takes you to discover the communal oven, known as Furan, an essential part of the neighborhood where locals come to bake their homemade bread and traditional pastries. You will witness this ancestral practice that remains a key part of daily life in Marrakech.
  • Next, we head to the Souk, the lively local market, where you will select fresh vegetables, fragrant spices, and all the ingredients needed for meal preparation. The vibrant and colorful atmosphere offers a full immersion into Moroccan culinary culture.

Back at the Riad, the cooking class is led by our chef Karima, a passionate expert in traditional Moroccan cuisine, assisted by Hassan, the manager, who ensures seamless translation from French to English so that every step is perfectly understood.
